There are sooo many variants that influence the price of a puppy. We want our puppies in a loving FOREVER homes. Price equals value...and our puppies lives are of the greatest value from the day they are born. They are not expendable. They are not accessories to be bought and sold with careless disregard. They are individuals. They are important. They matter regardless of color, gender, size, or confirmations. From the day they are born, they matter. We want our puppies in the greatest committed loving pet homes for LIFE. Homes that have educated themselves on what it takes to own and care for a forever companion. We don't want anyone to buy one of our babies on a whim, or without doing their homework on this breed, their health issues, and the devotion and time it takes to train them, and raise them. We want our babies to be with a responsible owner. Poms can live up to 18 years or so, and they will depend on you for all that time to care for them, provide for them, and never give up on them, because they will never give up on you!
Do Pomeranians Cost Alot? I am often told by perspective new owners that our puppies 'COST TO MUCH'. Many people are SHOCKED by the cost of pomeranians. The average cost being 1500-5000. One should look up prices in their area so they are can save and be ready for the financial commitment. I often here "10-15 years ago, I got my pomeranian puppy for just 300-400 dollars." I remember those days Fondly too! I sympathize with everyone shopping to buy a dog now. Sadly though, keep in mind, everything has gone up in prices. Everything cost a breeder so much more now. That inflation has an impact on all breeders. Gas was cheaper, cars were cheaper, vet bills and dog food, ALL were cheaper years ago. Saly as the overhead costs go up, so does the cost of raising healthy pom adults and puppies.
Here are just a few examples, maybe you can relate to, that have skyrocketed - quality food, vet care, ccections, routine vaccinations, worming, and antiparasitic screenings and preventive meds, gas to get to the vet/airport/meet clients, medications, dog beds, toys, ect. Covid has played a part in higher costs too. Vets now have been short staffed and that means most of us, can NOT get into see our vets when we need them. Many times, even though we have a great relationship with our vets, we are turned away in our time of need, and we will be paying triple to go to an emergency vet for things like ccections, and even for simple things like an ear ache!. Dog food has gone up, and it is often "out of stock" and we must scramble to adjust for that. An example of cost inflation- Well puppy vet checks and vaccinations used to run 60 per puppy averagle per vet in our area. Now, the average is 150 per puppy to have the same things done. This includes having their health evaluated, vaccinated, fecal ran, to have them wormed and get anti parasite/heartworm preventions.
We try to give our dogs all the best we can, and it is not cheap.
Another factor in the price of a pomeranian puppy, is time. Time to raise a litter is great! We are with our puppies for 2 months before they can go home to their new families. I that time, We put in more then 40 hours a week to care for them. The first week or so, we are devoted to our babies and do not even leave our home to be sure they are nursing, that mamas are caring for them, and often to bottle feed the smaller ones to help them survive! Our time is worth something. Our time to birth them, clean them, clean mama, birthing pads, prep, and place to keep mom and babies safe and dry. Our time to hold them, feed them, clean them, socialize them, play with them, watch over them to keep them safe, its ALOT of time! Our time is also factored into the cost of the puppies. We love our dogs very much so we will still do all these amazing things for them, and seek the best care and food for them ect. All of this is our duty and our pleasure. But it ads up. Most ethical breeders do not make a profit like many assume we do. All we make, goes right back to care for our dogs. Our prices reflect what our overhead to keep things running.
We get very attached to each one of our puppies, we can tell you all about each one's personalities! Because we spend so much time with them. We want you to be happy with your babies too! We want ou babies to always be a perfect match with you! A puppy with the most desirable, or frequently requested, traits is going to have a higher price. Most expensive prices would be for small females/males with the most requested traits or more rare colors. They may be 3000-5000. Lower prices are usually for puppies who have yet to sell by the time they are 16 weeks old. If your on a budget, I always understand that! Don't give up. Reach out to me, and I will be happy to keep you in mind if we decide to lower prices.
Many pet stores charge higher prices for puppies, yet they sell SICK puppies from unethical breeders and puppy mills. They offer NO warranty, and your puppy may not survive to adulthood due to unsafe breeding practices at puppy mills and sick puppies being produced by sick, neglected parents. We do NOT approve of those practices. I get many phone calls from disappointed or heart broken new dog owners, who bought from pet stores, and it did not go well. It breaks my heart to hear. Regardless where you seek to get your puppy, do your homework, and try to find a reputable breeder vs going to a pet store. If you decide to buy a puppy, and its NOT from us, I am still always here to help anyone answer questions, or to help in any way I can. So always feel free to CONTACT ME.
